Marlon Joseph Apañada

Founder and President

Marlon Apanada is the Founder and President of Asia Engine for Net Zero since the organization’s establishment in 2021. As Founder and President, Marlon spearheads the organization’s vision and strategic direction, ensuring timely and impactful project delivery, forging strategic partnerships, and leading a team of experts and staff to deliver impactful solutions for clients and partners navigating national and regional political, regulatory, and stakeholder complexities. Through his leadership, Marlon has ideated, implemented, and impact-delivered for projects, programs, and platforms for some of the organization’s most important clients and partners. He brings 20 years of expert experience in the clean energy & climate finance spaces, which includes leading business development of 100 MWs successfully commissioned renewable energy (RE) projects, successfully developing the first bank-financed solar projects in the Philippines, and pioneering climate finance and blended finance practice in Southeast Asia. 

A certified Green Finance Specialist, Marlon obtained his MBA from the Berlin University of Applied Sciences and his MBM in Climate Finance from the Berlin School of Economics and Law, both in Berlin, Germany. He also finished a certificate course on Sustainable Finance at the University of Oxford’s Smith School of Enterprise and Environment in Oxford, UK.

Eunjoo Park-Minc

Strategic on Sustainable Finance

Eunjoo Park-Minc is a Senior Advisor on Financial Institutions.  In this role, Eunjoo provides strategic guidance and expertise to clients and partners, enabling them to navigate emerging challenges and capture opportunities within the dynamic landscape of Southeast Asia. This entails leveraging extensive industry knowledge to develop tailored solutions that enhance organizational resilience, foster growth, and drive sustainable value creation. She has been a Chief Advisor and Head of Sustainable Finance at Banco de Oro (BDO)  Unibank in Manila, Philippines since 2012. She has worked in the Financial Sector for more than 25 years as a Financial Analyst, Professor of Finance, and Green Finance Specialist. 

She oversees more than  50 renewable energy (RE) projects and other climate action projects BDO financed. She established the bank’s Sustainable Finance Framework for BDO certified by Sustainalytics. She also led the issuance of BDO’s Green Bond, Sustainability Bond, and Blue Bond, the first innovative leveraged financial instruments to BDO, impacting the Philippines’ financial market as well as the regional market.  BDO’s Green Bond issuance of US$ 150 million, Sustainability Bond issuance of Php 52.7 billion, and Blue Bond issuance of US$100 million were truly the prolific results of the successful Sustainable Finance in partnership with International Finance Corporation.

Ms. Park-Minc holds an MSc in Green Energy and Climate Finance from Berlin School of Economics and Law, Berlin, Germany, an MBA in International Business and Finance from George Washington University, Washington D.C. USA., and a BA in Linguistics from Seoul National University, Seoul, South Korea. She is a Certified Green Finance Specialist and Trainer by the Renewable Energy Academy (RENAC) in Berlin, Germany.

Miya Cornejo

Executive Director

Miya Cornejo leads Asia Engine for Net Zero (AENZ) as Executive Director, guiding the organization’s mission to accelerate sustainable finance and corporate decarbonization across Asia. With close to a decade of experience in sustainability strategy, business transformation, and advisory, she brings a systems perspective to aligning financial institutions, businesses, and policymakers toward a just and net-zero transition.

Prior to joining AENZ, Miya advanced sustainability integration at Globe Telecom, where she led initiatives on internal carbon pricing, ESG strategy, and data-driven impact programs. She began her career in business advisory with SGV & Co. (EY Philippines), supporting financial services and government clients on risk management and process improvement.

Miya is deeply committed to enabling organizations to move beyond compliance—positioning sustainability as a catalyst for resilience, innovation, and shared value creation.

Jose Gabriel Silan

Director for Program Delivery

Gabriel Silan is a Director for Program Delivery at Asia Engine for Net Zero. He is an energy transition and green finance expert with eight years of in-depth experience in emerging markets like the Philippines and Indonesia. He facilitated transactions under innovative renewable energy procurement models for at least three Fortune Global 100 companies. He also convened and organized several high-impact dialogues between private sector and government stakeholders in the Philippines and Vietnam, drawing more than 2,000 participants in total. As Philippines manager for the Clean Energy Investment Accelerator, a global public-private partnership initiative, he co-developed several knowledge products including industry-pioneering planning tools for renewable energy procurement among selected distribution utilities in the Philippines.

Jay Angeles

Sustainable Finance Lead

Jay Angeles is the Sustainable Finance Lead at Asia Engine for Net Zero (AENZ), partnering with progressive financial institutions to drive their transition to sustainability. With 8 years of experience across corporate banking, treasury management, and sustainable finance, Jay helps financial institutions realize their untapped potential, ultimately creating new opportunities and shared value within their fields.

 

Before joining AENZ, Jay was the Originations Manager for Manila Water Company, Inc., (“Manila Water”), where he was able to raise PHP 30.7B in debt to fund the enterprise’s capital expenditures. On top of this, Jay was also able to negotiate the Liabilities Management of Manila Water’s subsidiaries, deliver the foreign currency requirements of the enterprise, publish weekly market updates, and present monthly Asset and Liabilities to top management.

 

Jay’s expertise in corporate banking comes from his background as the Relationship Associate for the Multinational Corporate Division of Metrobank’s Corporate Banking Group. Through this exposure, Jay is able to understand the bank’s perspective and internal intricacies that are essential in helping financial institutions understand sustainable finance.

Gwayne Marc Balisoro

Decarbonization Lead

Gwayne Marc Balisoro is the Decarbonization Lead at Asia Engine for Net Zero (AENZ), where he drives initiatives advancing corporate and industrial decarbonization in the Philippines and across the region. With over two years of experience at the intersection of carbon storage, renewable energy, and environmental economics, he brings a systems-based approach to accelerating the transition toward a net-zero future.

Before joining AENZ, Gwayne worked with the Cavite State University – Main Campus, where he conducted research on carbon accounting and the valuation of nature-based carbon storage ecosystems. His work contributed to strengthening the university’s environmental research agenda, particularly in quantifying carbon sequestration potentials in wetlands and agricultural landscapes.

He later served as a Business Development Officer at the University of the Philippines Los Baños – Technology Transfer and Business Development Office (UPLB-TTBDO). In this role, he supported the incubation of early-stage startups and facilitated technology transfer processes, bridging innovation from research to market application.

Gwayne holds a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science, major in Environmental Economics, from Cavite State University – Main Campus. He is passionate about harnessing the power of markets, innovation, and corporate action to unlock sustainable and equitable pathways to decarbonization.

Ephraim C. Mosquera

Communications and Partnerships Lead

Ephraim Clave Mosquera is a sustainability professional specializing in regulatory compliance, organizational sustainability, and climate partnerships. He currently serves as Communications and Partnerships Lead at the Asia Engine for Net Zero (AENZ), where he advances initiatives that bridge sustainable finance, corporate decarbonization, and renewable energy across Asia’s emerging markets.

Before joining AENZ, Ephraim worked as a Sustainability Consultant at Punongbayan & Araullo (P&A Grant Thornton), helping companies navigate complex environmental regulations—from EUDR compliance to plastic footprint verification under the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) law. His portfolio spans sectors including agriculture, technology, and transport.

Earlier in his career, Ephraim specialized in estate, risk and wealth planning and has also served as an accounting officer.

Today, Ephraim brings together his multidisciplinary expertise in finance, sustainability, and communication to help organizations pursue a just, inclusive, and net-zero transition.
